Language Training

oneworldlanguageOneWorld has specialized in language training for over two decades, and our training courses offer unsurpassed quality and value. Our goal to help clients achieve established competency levels in the target language as efficiently and comfortably as possible. We aim to engage, support and prepare clients for the challenges and opportunities they face in the global marketplace.

Instructors
Our instructors have been carefully selected from a large pool of qualified applicants. Many of our instructors hold Master Degrees, some even PhDs, in their respective fields.
All of our instructors are native speakers with extensive teaching experience. They are familiar with the customs, idioms, and current usage specific to their language and country.
The goal of each instructor is to help every student achieve measurable results that have practical application that are specific to their needs.
Students are surveyed periodically to determine if teachers and courses are on track to achieve stated goals and objectives.
Our instructors achieve excellent results. The positive feedback we consistently receive from our clients – in the corporate world, in the media, in publishing and in education – attests to our instructors’ outstanding track record.

Materials
Course materials supplement the personal interaction with our instructors. We choose proven, dynamic media that immerse and engage students on a variety of levels. Materials are selected to fit the specific needs of students. We also offer self-study packages for use outside of the classroom. If your company has specific needs that fall outside the ordinary, we can provide a solution that addresses the extra-ordinary.

Customer Service

OneWorld is committed to providing outstanding customer service. Our experienced training managers use proprietary project management software to ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction. We provide supervisory personnel with updates detailing attendance, course progress, and student performance.

Assessment Testing

We administer assessment tests to determine the best course level for each student. Our testing and follow-up procedures assure coursework will be meaningful and that realistic goals will be achieved.

Our English courses are tailored to the individual needs of each client.  Courses include basic English, business communication and writing, and accent reduction.
Schedules are designed to accommodate busy executives and their families.

Business Communication

OneWorld instructors specialize in helping business students optimize their ability to perform, negotiate and present themselves proficiently in English.
Students discuss business cases while they develop problem solving, information gathering, and presentation skills. Students learn how to actively share knowledge, and how to effectively deal with different cultures by learning cultural mores and how they might affect ways of doing business.
These courses are designed for intermediate to advanced students, and can be customized per client request.

Business Writing
While many professionals are rightfully concerned with their English speaking and comprehension skills, effective business writing in English is a hallmark of top international businesspeople. Even a brief correspondence, when written clearly and gracefully, communicates more than just professional decorum.
Some of the benefits of effective business writing in English include:

  • ease in daily e-mail and correspondence
  • effective collaboration skills (i.e. teamwork)
  • improved networking abilities
  • effective report and proposal writing

Our business writing courses are designed for students who want to polish their writing skills. Students learn how to organize ideas for maximum impact, how to choose the appropriate tone, and how to use a consistent style.

Proven immersion techniques, such as creating mock proposals, help students to achieve real-world, tangible results. Students will learn how to recognize good writing, avoid clichés, and how to express themselves logically and coherently.

Accent Reduction
Many of our clients are already proficient in English.  However, some have heavy accents and have difficulty being understood.  Our courses are designed to help intermediate students learn to understand and use word stress, intonation patterns, and rhythm in American English.

Training Levels
Each training level consists of 30 hours.

Beginning Level I
Students will be able to communicate in simple sentences in the present tense. Students acquire a vocabulary of approx. 500-600 words.

Intermediate I
Students will be able to communicate in simple and to a certain extend in complex sentences. They will be able to describe habitual actions as well as physical, mental and emotional conditions.
Students will be able to understand a native speaker in social and work-related situations if he/she speaks slowly. Paraphrasing and explanation will be necessary on certain occasions.

Intermediate II
Students will be able to communicate in simple and complex sentences using the present, future, and past tenses.
With the ability to describe habitual actions in the present, future, and past tenses, students will begin to express emotion, doubt, disbelief, and denial.

At course completion, students will have acquired 1,400-1,500 words.

Advanced Level II

Case Studies:

GlobalSantaFe
GlobalSantaFe required Portuguese language instruction aboard an off-shore oil rig. OneWorld selected a Brazilian instructor with an engineering background and extensive teaching experience. While the rig was being towed from Brazil to Cape Town, South Africa, workers participated in a one-month immersion course.
GlobalSantaFe placed their request only 2 weeks before the rig’s departure. OneWorld was able to quickly dispatch the correct instructor – with the relevant, outstanding credentials – to Brazil. GlobalSantaFe was able to turn thirty days of downtime into valuable language training time.

Nestlé
A Nestlé Manager and his family were being relocated from a remote German village to St. Louis, Missouri. Within 48 hours, via our extensive training network, OneWorld had already placed an experienced English instructor at their home in Germany. The instructor began the appropriate level of English immersion with the family, and also provided the family with the key cultural training necessary to assure a positive and smooth relocation.

As soon as the family arrived in the US, a new OneWorld instructor was assigned to pick up training precisely where it left off in Germany. This kind of follow-through enabled our Nestlé family to successfully adjust to their new life in the U.S.

Every year, Nestlé families relocate to Europe, and they need to learn survival French or German prior to their departure. Working under the umbrella of relocation companies such as Weichert Relocation, OneWorld provides language training to employees, spouses, and children of expatriating families.

At OneWorld, we are proud of our proven ability to assist Nestlé clients and their families with their international travel and relocation needs. Our personal approach and experience make it possible to create custom-tailored, in-depth language and cultural support.

eBay
eBay Managers and their spouses need to learn Chinese before their relocation to Shanghai. OneWorld provides expedited Chinese training in the U.S. prior to their departure. Training then continues where it left off in Shanghai, after families have re-settled.

OneWorld prepares our clients for phenomenal growth in markets such as Shanghai and Beijing. We are able to anticipate language and marketplace trends, and we then leverage our substantial linguistic and cultural network to assist clients with reliable support wherever, and whenever necessary.
Testimonial (Language Training)

“We have brought employees from around the globe to OneWorld Language Solutions and achieved excellent results. I believe the reason for this high success rate is the caring way OneWorld looks after visitors. They are treated more as members of an extended family than students.”
